Laughs galore at annual Straddy lunch

The annual Stradbroke Lunch at Royal on the Park Hotel was another successful event with 322 members and guests being entertained by Melbourne comedian Des Dowling and interviews with leading trainers Tony Noonan and John Thompson.

Even the 11th hour withdrawal of special guest Nathan Tinkler failed to dampen proceedings and an atmosphere of fun and camaradrie prevailed. With racing the focus, it was terrific to see so many folk connected with the industry in attendance. Thanks to the Brisbane Racing Club for taking two tables and supporting our traditional lunch in their busiest week of the year.

The crowd also appreciated an opportunity to hear an update from Racing Queensland chairman Kevin Dixon. Our major raffle prize on the day featured a trip for two to the Cox Plate which was won by long-serving member Jack Andersen. Our solitary auction item of a limted print "The Greatest Cup Never Run" attracted a winning bid of $1500.

Thanks to all who helped make the day a success and to members and their guests for attending.

Check our gallery page for a selection of photos from the day and appreciation to member Ross Stanley who did a great job with the camera.
